The Power of Passion and Edcamps

This weekend I attended my 7th Edcamp. I think. To be honest I have stopped keeping track of annual professional learning experiences because it makes me feel old. Edcamps, Educon, Teachmeet, Online K-12, all began before Twitter, before Facebook, and before the iPhone and iPad became mainstream. Teachers have been sharing and teaching each other…

Why We Do What We Do

Lately I have been struggling with the concept of mindset and resilience as it relates to adapting to and adopting change. As a former classroom teacher and education technology administrator I was surrounded by change. Over 10 years I taught at  different grade levels, in two different buildings; I taught in a new classroom almost…

Unintended Learning

Yesterday’s Google Docs workshop started out with the teacher (me) fully in control. I had gone through Google’s Educator Apps training modules, I had created a 2 page handout, and I had a demo document set up so we could try it out in the workshop. As soon as teachers logged in, however, there was…

Teachers Rock Minigrant Projects: Part II

Everything is difficult before it is easy.

Every time I visit the small, rural K-6 school district on the Maine border, I have to pass through the  gymnasium on my way to the Annex-where kindergarten through grade three lives. And as I head toward the doorway, on my way out of the building, just about eye level on the cinderblock gym wall…

It’s all about Relationships

I am firmly convinced you cannot possibly move forward until you get to know each other and work as a team.

Happy Friday!

Today I am trying to get started setting up a team of third and fourth grade teachers with their class edublog accounts. But first, I had to figure some things out on my own. For now we will stick with the free version-but so far I am impressed and happy to finally be an edublogger!
